What is Google Analytics?  How does it benefit my company?  How do I use it?

Getting started: Google Analytics is a free service offered by Google that gives you much-needed information about how clients arrived at your website, what they did when they were there, and what you can do to make it better.
After that: After you’ve seen this information, you are better able to tailor your advertising, increase customer counts, and use your website to make you more money.

Just visit google.com/analytics and log into the google account associated with your website’s analytics (Lifted Logic customers – if you aren’t sure how to do this, contact us and we’ll be happy to walk you through it.  Everyone else – your web developer should be able to help you with this.) The first screen you see will be an overview of your visitors and some demographic information about when people visited the website, what country they were from, and more.

By seeing the average length of time people spend on each page on your website, you may be able to determine if the information you are offering is relevant to what they’re looking for. The longer amount of time a customer spends on your website, the better.  An equivalent example would be the longer amount of time that a customer spends in a grocery store, the higher average amount of money they spend.  Also, by knowing demographic information about your viewers, you’re better able to understand who your target audience is – and if your website needs to be altered to help them find what they’re looking for.

One of the most useful functions of Google Analytics is to see what keywords people use to search for your company.  This allows you to know what words to use in your blogs, online advertising, and more.  Sometimes you’ll be surprised by the words that people are searching for – and how they end up at your website may truly amaze you!  Lifted Logic knows that all information contained in Google Analytics is very useful to business owners; therefore each website we create is automatically linked to analytics so all this information is at your fingertips.  Even if you’ve never opened analytics, we’ve had it running from the very day we built your website.
